CSIRO Postdoctoral Fellow – Bioinformatics Research – Canberra
Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 5:00PM Postdoctoral Fellow – Bioinformatics Research
CSIRO Plant Industry
The postdoctoral fellow will join the CSIRO Plant Industry Bioinformatics Team and contribute to existing efforts to develop novel analytical methods to analyse high-throughput genomics data towards the identification of molecular candidates integral to the control of important biological traits. In particular, the role is to lead method development in the highly active area of cereal functional genomics.
CSIRO Plant Industry is a world-leader in wheat genomics research and has developed several highly informative genetic populations. These populations are designed to provide new insights into the genetic control of important cereal phenotypes relevant to food security and resilience to climate change.
The fellow will tackle challenges in the statistical analysis of genotypes observed in polyploid wheat and develop methods to robustly associate genotypic with phenotypic variation across experimental wheat populations. The research will utilise cutting-edge genomics approaches such as next-generation DNA and RNA sequencing approaches and whole-genome genetic polymorphism detection platforms. The fellow will access international collaborations and participate in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary bioinformatics and genomics research community in CSIRO.
