UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship (Integrative Modelling of Human Brain Genomics, Transcriptomics and Epigenomics) - UNSW

The advent of technological breakthroughs has provided a wealth of omics data which has provoked a fundamental transformation of the science of biology. Biology has increasingly become an information-based discipline focusing on “systems” approaches which describe the translation of benchtop science into computational models and mathematical frameworks. The goal of this project is to investigate the interplay between the genome, epigenome, and transcriptome in disease susceptibility using systems-level integrative computational approaches. It will rely on rich multi-omics datasets consisting of RNA sequence, DNA methylation, and histone acetylation derived from human brains. It provides a unique opportunity to be trained across disciplines and contribute to a cutting-edge field of research.

The UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme

The UNSW Scientia PhD Scholarship Scheme is a cornerstone of the UNSW 2025 Strategy, and aims to attract new PhD scholars of exceptional quality to undertake projects in strategic research areas. Awardees receive a $50,000 scholarship package for four years, comprising a $40,000 per annum tax-free stipend and a travel and development support package of up to $10,000 per annum. International students also receive a tuition fee scholarship. In addition to this scholarship package, scholars are provided with access to a range of development opportunities across research, teaching and learning and leadership and engagement.
