Tertiary courses

  • To find Australian courses in bioinformatics or related areas, visit MyUniversity where you can find and compare available undergraduate and postgraduate courses, their entry requirements, content and approximate cost.
  • Overseas residents considering studying in Australia can find available courses at CRICOS. The site also provides information about course duration, entry requirements and cost.
  • Sonia Cattley's A review of bioinformatics degrees in Australia (Brief Bioinform (2004) 5(4): 350-354) is an historic snapshot of tertiary bioinformatics courses available in Australia.
  • For study outside Australia, a reasonably comprehensive list of bioinfomatics degrees and courses worldwide is available.

Free online courses (MOOCs)

Santa Fe Institute will be launching a series of MOOCs (Massive Open On-line Courses), covering the field of complex systems science. Our first course, Introduction to Complexity, will be an accessible introduction to the field, with no pre-requisites.

In this eleven-week course, you'll learn about the tools used by complex systems scientists to understand, and sometimes to control, complex systems. The topics you'll learn about include dynamics, chaos, fractals, information theory, self-organization, agent-based modeling, and networks.
