PhD Scholarships in Systems Biology and Genomcis Organisation: Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research

The SBGL at the Harry Perkins institute focuses on using cutting-edge genomic techniques, in particular next generation DNA sequencing and computational approaches (bioinformatics) to understand how cells work at a system level.

Professor Forrest, who heads the SBGL, was scientific coordinator of the FANTOM5 project and has overseen 38 publications from the work in the past 2 years (including main papers in Nature, Nature Biotech, and Science).

I am calling for strong PhD candidates to apply for Forrest foundation scholarships (Both international and domestic are eligible).

Areas the lab is currently working include: Pan-cancer analysis Drug repurposing Cell type specific transcriptional networks Long non-coding RNA function Integration of large public datasets – GWAS, eQTL, GTEx, FANTOM5, ENCODE I request that candidates send me a copy of their CV and/or their academic transcript, and a cover letter explaining their interests and why they might like to join the lab.

A project will be developed around the candidate's interests and strengths. Australian Applicants must also apply for an APA.

International students must also apply for an IPRS and will need IELTS 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0) to apply.
