PhD Scholarship in Ancient Genomics

About the research
Griffith University has a world-class Ancient Genomics laboratory where researchers have sequenced the genomes of ancient penguins, ancient Australians, and the extinct moa. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with interest in the bioinformatics analysis of next generation sequence data from Illumina, FLX and ion-torrent platforms. The prospective candidate could work on one of the following two projects:
- Ancient human population genomics
- Evolutionary genomics of ancient and modern penguins
The prospective candidate is expected to be familiar with (or have the desire to learn) Unix/Linux environments, a scripting language such as Perl or Python, and popular next generation data analysis tools such as BWA, GATK, Plink, and Samtools.
