The University of Queensland's Institute for Molecular Bioscience is a leading global research institute. IMB was established in 2000 as UQ's first research institute and is the cornerstone of one of the largest bioscience research precincts in Australia.
The successful appointee will become part of the IMB Genomics of Development and Disease Division using next generation sequencing technologies to understand the genome and genetic disorders. This will include provision of support in the design, installation and ongoing maintenance of networks, servers and services exclusively for the IMB Genomics Facility.
Applicants should possess a degree in IT or have an equivalent combination of relevant real-world experience and/or education/vendor training. Progress towards or completion of postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded. Prior experience in: managing a Linux-based operating system, working in a large enterprise environment; working and adhering to best practice standards within a Data Centre and managing/using HPC clusters is essential. You should also be proactive and enthusiastic with an ability to work collaboratively with team colleagues and with minimal supervision.
