The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is one of four schools in the Division of Health Sciences at the University of South Australia. The School focuses on applied research and professional education, enriched by the professional knowledge of its staff, state-of-the-art facilities, and strong partnerships with industry, community, and professional bodies.
An international leader in epilepsy genetics research, the Epilepsy Research Group (ERG) explores the genetic causes of epilepsy. The research is aimed at identifying the genes involved in different forms of epilepsy and understanding the underlying pathogenesis of epilepsy and its co-morbidities which include autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability and psychiatric features.
To be successful, you will have completed a PhD in molecular genetics and have demonstrated experience or expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Human genetics
- Molecular biology
- Cell biology
- Human genomics
- Drosophila models of human disorders
- Drosophila neurobiology
A proven record of peer review publications and conference presentations together with previous research experience or knowledge in one of more of the following areas is also essential:
Candidates with previous experience in assisting or supervising students and laboratory management would be viewed favourably.
