Senior Research Associate (Senior Postdoctoral Researcher) - The University of Queensland - Brisbane
The Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) has openings for Senior Research Associate positions in the division of Genomics and Computational Biology.
IMB is a multidisciplinary research institute of The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. We emphasise high-quality fundamental research and its translation into medical and/or biotechnological outcomes. IMB is equipped with excellent facilities including next-generation sequencing (Queensland Centre for Medical Genomics), proteomics, microscopic imaging, data management and computing.
As a Senior Research Associate within an IMB research group, the successful applicant will develop a complementary research program, secure competitive grants and fellowships, and conduct world-leading research.
We especially invite applications in the areas of genome medicine and/or computational systems biology with a focus on cancer, obesity and diabetes, or infection and immunity. A joint appointment with the UQ Centre for Clinical Research and/or a Brisbane-area research hospital is possible.
• A visionary research program in genomics and/or computational biology that complements an IMB
Laboratory and in that context can attract grants and fellowships;
• A growing national and international profile in the relevant research field; and
• Interest and potential to collaborate both internally and externally.
We invite applications from researchers at a transitional career stage who meet the selection criteria. Preference may be given to applicants with no more than 10 years’ postdoctoral experience. Qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply.
A five-year fixed-term contract will be offered and a remuneration package commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate for the appointed role will be negotiated.
