This hands-on workshop introduces the concepts of RNA-Seq analysis, from data preparation through to statistical testing for differential gene expression, using Galaxy, a platform that provides a simple and user-friendly interface to bioinformatics tools. Participants will then progress to the command line interface and R environment, both used widely by bioinformaticians, for more advanced applications including generation of graphical data summaries and assembly of de novo transcriptomes. The workshop concludes with an introduction to gene-list enrichment analysis.
